Day Moon

I have noticed this happening quit a lot recently; it must be a late winter/early spring thing because I don’t seem to see it any other time of the year. When I have looked the moon has arrived around 14:00 for the past 3 days, I don’t know if it has appeared earlier because I do not wait to see when I can see the moon, but it is very early for the moon isn’t it. A few weeks ago the moon was there at around 15:30 (just getting on the bus home from school) which I thought was impressive, but these last 3 days have beat it by hours. Also I remember years ago when I was at primary school I saw the moon at as soon as I arrived at school, so that was probably to moon leaving late rather than arriving early like it has been doing recently.

So yes, it is strange isn’t it, the moon is much nicer to look at during the day, compared to the sun. Doing some research on why it can be seen some days I have also found out that Venus can be seen during the day sometimes if you block the sun from sight, it says you will see a little pale star, so I will be looking out for that one.

So now to answer how the moon can be seen in the day. First of all the moon needs to be over the horizon to be seen during the day. The moon goes all the way round the sky once every 28 days. Around full moon time the moon is opposite the sun and the moon rises around the time the sun sets. After full moon the moon gradually drifts Eastward each night, it gets closer to the Sun in daylight. That is the information I found after a glance though the internet, it makes sense but it does not explain my it is seen some days and not others, I do not see the moon in the sky monthly, and not just because there are clouds in the way, so I want and explanation for that aswell. But I cannot be bothered at the moment so here is a nice animation of the moon’s rotation about it’s own axis.

Work That Needs Doing This Week

Well, I have set myself a lot to do this week:

  1. First of all I need to get all my drawings of “Beans on Toast” finished for a article you will be seeing some time soon, but that I nearly finished today.
  2. Next I want to fix my desktop because ages ago I tried some partitioning of my hardrive for Linux and I ended up having around 80gb doing nothing which I need to make into a partition, but I have lost the disc with linux on and I can’t find any free software which will do it for me inside windows.
  3. After that I want to back up all my stuff on my laptop and wipe it clean because it is running slower than my desktop. Which is horrible because my desktop only has 500mb ram and single core processor and my laptop has 2gb or ram and a core 2 duo. So once I have my laptop cleaned out I need to find some decent anti-virus because everything I have used has always let stuff through and my computer always ends up like this.
  4. Somewhere in all this I need to get some revision done aswell because Mrs. Townley wants me to re-sit maths Module 1 (which is only small so that won’t take much work) but also Mr. Coward has let me do the higher paper for geography so I have all of the geography course to revise well by the end of this school year. So yes, I also need to get some revision done.

So I think they are sensible goals, but I probably won’t get them done, but the revision is a must do so I will put that at the top of my list.

Wacom Drawing

To just had a quick bash at sketching my graphics tablet using my graphics tablet (a bit of irony for Joe there) and this is the end product of around 5 minutes work. I know it is not entirely blog worthy, but I just thought I would start sketching things and keeping an immortal copy on the internet and maybe look at my progress through the months. So yes, I just thought I would let you know that you will be seeing more sketch based blogs in the future and hopefully you will enjoy a bit of a change from my regular pattern of whining, hacking and the hailing of the person on my mind at the time.
